Monthly Specials Day at Tavan
Once a month, Tavan students get to experience a full day of specials instead of their regular classroom schedule. This exciting new initiative supports SUSD’s vision of Engaging all students in world-class, future-focused learning.
On Specials Day, students rotate every 40 minutes through 7–8 classes such as:
Art | Music | PE | Health | Computers | Library | Two additional classes tied to a monthly theme
For example, our September theme is Kindness. Students will participate in a Be Kind class and a Building Relationships class along with their regular specials.
Important Notes for Families - Teachers will be in planning sessions during Specials Days. If you need to share important information about your child for that day, please contact the school office directly.
What to Wear on Specials Day
Since students will be moving between multiple activities, we encourage families to help their Wildcats come prepared for a fun, active day:
-
Tennis shoes are best for PE and movement-based classes.
-
Weather-appropriate clothing (layers for cooler mornings, lighter clothes for warm afternoons).
-
Comfortable clothes they can move in easily.
How Can Parents Help?
We love parent involvement! Families are welcome to volunteer during certain Specials Days to help with set-up, support activities, and ensure students have a smooth rotation.
