Who has been to one of Tavan's awesome auctions? This year, we are going to try something different and combine this event with our school carnival, Tavanival, in mid-March. Although we request donations for auction items from our neighborhood businesses, a good portion of the wonderful items we sell come from classroom baskets and art projects created by the kids. HAVE YOU ASKED YOUR TEACHER WHAT THEIR CLASSROOM PROJECT IS GOING TO BE THIS YEAR? Holiday sales are a great time to pick up an extra item or two that fit in with your class theme! Please contact your teacher and ask what they have decided on. |
UPCOMING PTO VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Hello Tavan Parents,
It's that time of year again for the annual Tavan Sweetheart dance.
This is the event that our daughters will remember for the rest of their lives. The Dad's Club is looking for volunteers to set up, work the event and help with clean up.
Here's the short and sweet email of the the details:
Dance set up: February 4th, morning
Dance is on February 4th, 6-8pm - school cafeteria
Cleanup - RIGHT AFTER THE DANCE - 8pm until we're done.

Come Join the Tavan Dad's Club
The Tavan Dad's Club has
been an integral part of Tavan for over 15 years. The Dad's Club is made up of
students' family members (mostly dads and a few grandpas) that are committed to
being involved in the school community. The members provide input and their own
flavor to each and every event which results in the three events evolving each
and every year.
The Dad's club
is responsible for three events during the year:
1. Haunted House at
Halloween HiJinx (October). The dads put together an elaborate and intricate
haunted house that is both thrilling and compelling for our kids.
2. Sweetheart Dance:
(February - Saturday before Valentine's day). This dance is a cherished opportunity
for the young women of Tavan to bring their dad, uncle, grandfather or close
family friend to the school for a night of dancing, chocolate fountains and
prizes.
3. Movie Night & Campout (April). On the cool afternoon of a Saturday in April we play games, jump in a bounce house and BBQ food while families get to know each other. At sunset we project a family movie on a large screen outside for all to enjoy. Many families choose to camp out on the field and eat a pancake breakfast the next morning.
