Our 2011/2012 Fundraiser - Our Fall Fundraiser, the primary way our PTO raises $$$$kicks off on August 18th. The kids will bring home their sale packets on Thursday, after attending an assembly. Prepare yourself for the Lucky Ducks!!! This is a fun promotion where kids can earn rubber ducks for the 1st item they sell, and each 4th item thereafter.
Look for the sale packets explaining how this year we have a few options to help raise $$:
- CASH CONTRIBUTION - if you don't want to hit up your friends and family to buy catalog merchandise or cookie dough, we would LOVE to transition into a flat, $$$contribution (truly can be cash or check). If every student could raise $25, we could raise almost $20,000! Kids can still earn prizes for this if they don't sell from the catalog.
- CATALOG SALE - The students can sell from two catalogs, one with gift merchandise, magazines, and jewelry, or they can sell cookie dough.
- DISCOUNT BOOK - this books offers repeat discounts to a number of local businesses.
Orders and PAYMENT are due no later than September 7th.
ON-GOING FUNDRAISERS:
- Fry's Cool Cash - In the 2010-2011 school year, we reached our $50,000 goal in the Fry's Cool Cash program, and earned Tavan $500! We are continuing the program for 2011-2012. Upon checking out at Fry's, ask the cashier to scan both your VIP card, and your Cool Cash barcode (download here or here for Spanish). You'll raise money for Tavan every time you use your VIP card...keep up the great work Wildcats!!!
- Safeway's Club Card escrip - Save money on groceries while giving money back to Tavan. Visit www.escrip.com to register - you'll need your Safeway club card number and Tavan's ID number: 6677001. Make sure to update this every year. Click here for more information.

Box Tops for Education - Collect box tops from your favorite grocery items, and send them to school with your student. - Tavan Recycles! - DID YOU KNOW??? Tavan receives $20 per ton for recycling clean paper, chipboard (such as crackers and cereal boxes), cardboard and aluminum cans. Last year, we recycled 35 tons and received over $700 and saved 595 trees! Even more remarkable, this program is voluntary. Each week, classrooms and staff, including Mrs. Serna and Mr. Velarde, save recyclables. On Thursdays, Mrs. Rocca’s 5th grade students use their recess time to collect all recyclable paper products from each class.
- Since students cannot go the parking lot, every Friday, volunteer parents such as Maria Morales, Laura Gutierrez, Sabrina Blood, and other parents, take the collected paper products to the dumpster by front of the school. This is picked up by Vista Paper and the funds go to the Tavan PTO. Our school also collects and recycles plastic products which do not generate funds but are nevertheless high pollutants. To spread the word about the importance of helping the environment, Tavan has challenged others such as Ingleside Middle School, Arcadia High School, Chaparral High School and the District Office.

- Perennials - It's Tavan Appreciation evryday at Perennials, a children's recycled clothing store owned by a Tavan family. It is located at 3748 E Indian School Road. Mention Tavan and receive 10% off and Perennials will donate 10% to Tavan. Click here for the flyer
